Celebrating World TB Day 2026 with Impact Across Communities- Yes We Can End TB

Tuberculosis remains a major public health concern, affecting 10.4 million people globally and claiming 1.23 million lives each year. Global efforts to combat TB have saved an estimated 83 million lives since the year 2000 according to the World Health Organization 2025 Global Tuberculosis Report.
The Global Health EDCTP3-funded PANGenS project in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Control Programe (NTCP) Ghana, the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital-Chest Clinic and the Church Pentecost- Ghana ,marked World TB Day 2026 with three days of community engagement and health education.
📅 March 21 – Abossey Okai: Community TB screening including chest X-rays, HIV, malaria, and blood sugar testing. Doctors were on site to consult, interpret results and indicate for sputum samples for anyone showing signs of TB.

📅 March 24 – Achimota School: Public health education session to raise awareness about TB, dispel myths, and promote healthy practices among students.

📅 March 26 – Chemuna Chorkor: Another round of comprehensive TB and health screenings, ensuring access to vital services for underserved populations.

These activities underscored the project’s commitment to early detection, education, and community health, helping to reduce TB transmission and improve health outcomes as part of global efforts to combat this disease.
