The Leibniz Institute DSMZ (German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures) is the most diverse biological resource center and one of the largest collections of microorganisms and cell cultures worldwide. It is both a research infrastructure used by science and industry, and a research institution. The data platform DSMZ Digital Diversity integrates a suite of scientific databases of fundamental relevance for the life sciences.
The Leibniz Institute DSMZ is located in Braunschweig, Germany. It was founded in 1969 and has been a member of the Leibniz Association since 1996. It is a non-profit organization supported by the State of Lower Saxony and funded by the Federal Government and the German states.
